The Google logo that we see today has not been the same since the start of this search engine. It has gone through numerous changes whilst making the design better each time a new logo was released. Google is the worlds number search engine which has been providing answers to the different questions by millions of users around the world. This search engine was first launched in the year 1997 with a very basic design which was basically a university startup. Google had a different name when it was launched which was known as BackRub. That site had a fairly evident picture at the main that is a photograph of a bristly hand on top of what has all the earmarks of being skin, with extensive letter saying “BackRub” put on top of it. Later on it became Google in the year 1997 with 3D letters tipped back, with unusual pixelated edges.
The first proper logo was created by Sergey Brin using GIMP. Later on Google was made a great search engine and is still the number one search engine in the world.
Google has a lot of logo history over the years with some very different designs. The most unique thing about the logo design which remained the same is the use of different colors in the logo design.
In this article I am going to write about the history of Google logo which kept on changing from the year 1997 till today in 2017. The logo kept on getting better with each new logo release.
Logo in the year 1997
In the year 1997 when Google was created by two Stamford University students Sergey Brin and Larry Page, a very basic and rough logo was created for the first time. It was not even a company at that time. The logo was created with different colors. It was a very average design with no proper shading and color mixing.

The first proper Google logo after it became a company was created by Sergey Brin using GIMP. The logo had different colors with some drop shadow effect. However the life of this logo was not very long as it was replaced with another logo within the same year.
Logo in the year 1998 Part 2
This was another time when the first logo was replaced with another one within the same year. The colors in the logo were re-arranged and adding an exclamation mark at the end of the logo. Everything else in the logo was kept at its place.
Logo in the year 1999-2010
This was a great change in the logo design which was utilized from May 31, 1999 to May 5, 2010. The exclamation mark was expelled, the logo characters wound up plainly slimmer and a slope was added to each letter which gave a general shiny look to the logo. The shadow effect was a lot more prominent than the other designs.
Logo in the year 2010-2013
This was the year when Google decided to change its logo to make it flow with the trend. The logo was utilized from May 6, 2010 to September 18, 2013 where they diminished separation of the anticipated shadow with more straightened letters. The colors of the letters got more prominent and the color for the letter “o” was changed from yellow to orange.

This was the year when Google decide to give its logo design a flat look. The logo was utilized from September 19, 2013 to August 31, 2015 demonstrating flattend lettering where they had removed the drop shadow from the letters. The colors of the letter became lighter but they gave a very nice bright look.
Logo in the year 2015-2017
This was the year in September 1, 2015 when Google made a major change in its logo design where the new logo additionally had gentler hues. The typeface of the logo was changed for the first time in all these year in sans-serif font. This logo has been in use since 2015 until now which was a major change and this change was definitely her to stay for a longer time.
